Why rent a Jeep in Dubai

A Jeep rental in Dubai is the only option that allows you to stray beyond the main roads. Whatever gets you through Sheikh Zayed Road traffic also goes to the summit of the Hatta passes in the afternoon and can even traverse the sand tracks around Al Qudra before sunset. It's no wonder our Jeep category rentals are some of the most in-demand. Be it two-week holiday tourists or Dubai residents needing long-term rental 4x4s, we have you covered.

Real Viking Car Rental offers Jeep rentals in Dubai for AED 159 a day inclusive of insurance, registration, and 24-hour roadside assistance. Delivery is free in the city, be it your hotel, residence, or Dubai International Airport. Here are the models, rates, and requirements along with the destinations worth visiting.

Reasons to rent a Jeep in Dubai

Dubai's roads were built for SUVs. The city has smooth highways with high speed limits, high desert sand dunes that start 20 minutes away from downtown Dubai, and residential communities with large speed bumps. Jeeps have other advantages over regular SUVs to:

  • Go off the beaten path, especially with low-range 4WD, locking differentials and short overhangs.

  • Provide an experience like no other with a top that can be removed on the Wrangler between Nov and March. This is the closest Dubai has to convertible that's safe for the dunes.

  • Give you an advantage on the road, by virtue of their height.

  • Have the best visibility of any vehicle.Navigating interchanges and slip roads in Dubai is much easier when you are not stuck in traffic. As a first-time visitor, this compounded stress is not ideal.

  • With the Gulf's hot and humid climate, air conditioning can become a major issue in Dubai. Structured for GCC summers, every Jeep in our fleet is specifically built for the Gulf and operates rigorously in temperatures of 45°C. We never import them.

  • Family and luggage space. A Grand Cherokee can accommodate five full-grown adults and their luggage. Meanwhile, a Compass works perfectly for a couple and their luggage

Which Jeep should you rent?

Jeep Wrangler rental Dubai

The Wrangler is the model most people are looking for when they search for a Jeep rental in Dubai. When considering the Wrangler, the four-door Unlimited is a great option. It’s a five passenger model with more luggage space and still runs solid axles and a low-range transfer case like the two-door Wrangler. Consider the two-door Wrangler if your primary use will be desert and photo opportunities because it has less weight and better handling. If someone is going to be sitting in the back for more than an hour, consider the four-door Wrangler Unlimited model. Both models come equipped with removable hardtops, and we'll remove the roof panels for you free of charge.

Jeep Gladiator rental

The Gladiator is a Wrangler with a pickup bed. It is ideal for trips to Liwa or Fossil Rock, where you require a vehicle to carry your tent, recovery boards, cooler, and deflated tires. It is popular amongst contractors looking for their work vehicle to transform into a vehicle to take to the dunes on weekends. Consider the turning radius when parking in older Deira or Bur Dubai, as the Gladiator is a long vehicle.

Jeep Grand Cherokee rental Dubai

If the driving is mostly Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Dubai to Al Ain, or school runs and malls, the Grand Cherokee is the more comfortable car by a wide margin. Quieter cabin, softer ride, better fuel economy on the highway, and a premium interior that suits corporate use. It handles graded desert tracks and beach access roads easily, but it is not the car for deep soft sand.

Jeep Compass and Renegade

These are the budget entries into Jeep hire in Dubai. Both are crossovers rather than hard-core 4x4s, both are cheap on fuel and easy to park in Marina and JLT towers, and both carry the Jeep badge and ride height. For a resident wanting a monthly rental that mostly sees Emirates Road and the odd weekend beach day, the Compass is often the best value in the whole fleet.

What is included in your Jeep rental

•      Comprehensive insurance with a standard excess of AED 1,500 (reducible to zero with our CDW option at AED 50 per day).

•      250 km per day free mileage, pooled across the rental; AED 2 per extra kilometre.

•      Free delivery and collection anywhere in Dubai, including DXB and DWC airports and all hotels.

•      24/7 roadside assistance and replacement vehicle in the event of a breakdown.

•      Full registration, servicing and Mulkiya card kept current — nothing for you to arrange.

•      Salik tag fitted; toll gates are billed at AED 4 per crossing at the end of the rental.

Not included: fuel (returned at the same level you received it), traffic fines plus an administration fee of AED 50 per fine, and Salik crossings.

Requirements to rent a Jeep in Dubai

Requirements differ slightly for tourists and residents. Bring the following and the paperwork takes about ten minutes.

Tourists and visitors

•      Passport with a valid UAE entry stamp or visa.

•      Home country driving licence, plus an International Driving Permit if your licence is not from a country on the UAE's approved list (GCC states, UK, most of the EU, USA, Canada, Australia, South Africa, Japan, and others).

•      Credit or debit card in the driver's name for the security deposit.

UAE residents

•      Valid UAE driving licence.

•      Emirates ID (original or a clear copy of both sides).

•      Passport copy with residence visa page.

Minimum driver age is 22 on the Compass and Renegade and 25 on the Wrangler, Gladiator, and Grand Cherokee. Each additional driver is AED 100. Every driver must be listed on the contract. An unregistered driver is not covered by insurance.

Where to drive your Jeep around Dubai

This is the part that makes a Jeep rental worth the extra cost over a saloon.

•      Hatta — about 90 minutes from the city. Mountain roads, the dam and kayaking, and the Hatta Wadi Hub. Entirely tarmac, so any Jeep in the fleet is fine.

•      Al Qudra Lakes and the Love Lake — graded desert track around the lakes, cycling loop, and open sunset views 45 minutes from Downtown.

•      Jebel Jais, Ras Al Khaimah — the highest road in the UAE, roughly two hours away, and cool enough in winter to need a jacket at the summit.

•      Fossil Rock and Mleiha, Sharjah — proper dune driving country and archaeological sites. Deflate to around 15 psi before entering the sand.

•      The Big Red dunes on the Dubai–Hatta road — the best-known dune bashing spot in the emirate.

Off-road policy: Our Wranglers and Gladiators are authorized on sand and desert routes. Our Grand Cherokee, Compass, and Renegade models are limited to graded routes and asphalt. The Dune driving is a risky activity. Go with another vehicle and carry a tow rope and tell someone how to reach you. You drive at your risk. Off-road usage of a vehicle that is not rated for it will not be covered by the insurance.

Short version: renting a Jeep is the way to go for the full experience of driving a Wrangler if your trip entails any time in the desert or if you just want the feeling of driving one. However Grand Cherokees or a Patrol are better for family driven vacations and mainly highway trips.

Jeep rental Dubai — frequently asked questions

How much does it cost to rent a Jeep in Dubai?

Jeep rentals in Dubai begin at AED 159 per day for a Renegade, AED 189 for a Compass, and AED 349 for a Wrangler Unlimited. Weekly prices start at AED 950 and monthly rentals start at AED 2,900. That averages to approximately a half of the original daily cost. Insurance, registration and 250 kilometers for each day is included in the prices.

Can tourists rent a Jeep in Dubai?

Yes. Tourists need a passport with a valid UAE entry stamp, their home country driving licence, an International Driving Permit if their licence is not from an approved country, and a credit or debit card for the deposit.

Do I need an International Driving Permit?

Only if your national licence is not issued by one of the countries the UAE recognises directly. Licences from the GCC, UK, most EU states, the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Africa are accepted on their own. If in doubt, bring the IDP — it costs little and removes any argument at handover.

Is there a security deposit?

Yes, AED 1,500 refundable. It is held against traffic fines, Salik and damage, and returned within 21 working days after the car is checked in and fines have cleared the RTA system.

Can I take the rental Jeep off-road or into the dunes?

The Wrangler and Gladiator are approved for sand and desert tracks. The Grand Cherokee, Compass and Renegade are for tarmac and graded roads only. Off-road damage in a vehicle not rated for it is not covered by insurance.

Can I drive the Jeep to Oman or Abu Dhabi?

Abu Dhabi and all other emirates include no additional cost to you. There is an extra cost of AED 500 with written approval at least 48 hours prior to travel to Oman. This is in addition to separate insurance for cross-border travel which must be arranged before travel.

Is monthly Jeep rental cheaper than leasing?

For anything under a year, in practice, you can rent a vehicle from us on a monthly basis. We include insurance, servicing, registration, and replacement vehicles. There’s no down payment or lengthy commitment. Starting at AED 2,900, you can rent a Jeep Renegade in Dubai. A Jeep Wrangler Unlimited would cost you AED 6,300.

Do you deliver the Jeep to the airport or my hotel?

Yes. Free delivery and collection are available across Dubai and DXB Terminals 1, 2 and 3 and Al Maktoum International Airport. Other emirates delivery services can be arranged for an extra charge.

What happens if I get a traffic fine?

Fines are charged to your card as they appear on the RTA system, plus an administration fee of AED 50 per fine. We send you the fine reference so you can verify it yourself on the RTA portal.

Is the mileage unlimited?

Each rental includes 250 km per day, pooled over the rental period. Extra kilometres are AED 2 each. Unlimited mileage can be added for AED 75 per day if you are planning long trips to Oman or across the UAE.
